The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins

In Matt 24:3, the disciples ask Jesus about the End of the Age. Jesus then speaks about the end times all the way to Matt 25:46, which is about the judgement of the nations of the Earth. In between Matt 24:3 and Matt 25:46, there are 4 parables in the following order:

1. The Parable of the Fig Tree

2. The Faithful servant and evil servant

3. The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins

4. The Parable of the Talents

Since these parables are sandwiched between Matt 24 and Matt 25 about the End Times, these parables also concerned the End Times.

In Matt 25:1 contains the story of 10 virgins who went out to meet the bridegroom. 5 were wise and took oil with them, 5 were foolish and did not.

Jesus often refer himself as the bridegroom Mark 2:19 while Oil is a representation of the Holy Spirit. Oil was used to light up the lamp in the tabernacles. Similarly, every one of the believers had received the Holy Spirit and is supposed to let it shine forth in our life like the city that is set on a hill that could not be hidden.

The story goes on that 5 virgins took extra oil with them while 5 did not. The bridegroom was then delayed and they slumbered and slept. I believed that this speak of the history of the church when the church grew weak during the Dark Ages. I believed this could also speaks of a believer life

In V6. it continues with ‘At midnight a cry was heard “Behold, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet”. In Matt 24: 36-39, just one chapter before, Jesus says no one knows the day or hour of the Coming of the Son of Man, but God the father only. The bridegroom will come in an hour unexpected

V7. then says that all the virgins rose and trimmed their lamp. The foolish virgins asked the wise virgins to spare some oil but were rebuffed. They had to go to the oil sellers to buy oil. While they went to the oil-seller to buy oil, the bridegroom arrived and the virgins who were readied enter with them. The 5 foolish virgins then returned later were denied entry.

I believed that God is speaking to us today, “do not neglect the Holy Spirit”. There was a time where we neglect the Holy Spirit in church and in our lives maybe. There are still some who continued to neglect the Holy Spirit. But God is talking to us, “do not neglect the Holy Spirit and his works”. Do not make the same mistakes the 5 foolish virgins did, especially as we are living in the last days

Expectations on Liverpool

My expectations on Liverpool this seasons:

1) To win a trophy, either the Carling Cup or the FA Cup

2) To qualify for Champion League football once again

3) To not necessary win the title but to be title contender in giving the "Champion" a scare somewhere

4) To beat Man Utd home and away

5) To win all their home matches and to win most of away matches against their not so highly rated opponent.

When I was worshipping, God give me a vision of a rising sun, like that of Proverbs 4:18 - "The path of the just is like the shining sun, that shine ever brighter unto the perfect day."

However, I then notice that certain areas behind bushes, tress and rocks that are covered by shadows, and the sun could not shine on those areas

Then I understand what the vision means. God is shinning his light into our life. But there are areas in our life that the light cannot reach into fully and these are represented by the area not reached by light block by rocks, bushes and trees

There are only 2 ways to remove this obstacles

1) remove the rocks, bushes and tree that block the path of light. This require active, hard, consistent parts on us to remove the things that block God's light into our life

2) Wait for the sun to reach noon. When the sun reach the noon position, that is directly above us, everything will be revealed. When God do this, everything will be revealed for all to see.

Given this 2 choices we have, we have to ask ourselves what choices do we want to make. To remove the 'obstacles' that block God's light into our life or to wait for God to reveal everything. It is better to remove this obstacles than to wait till God reveal it all

Feeding his lambs and sheeps

So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?"
He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love you
He said to him, "Feed My lambs"
He said to him again a second time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?"
He said to him, "Tend My sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?"
And he said to him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus said to him, "Feed My sheep.
John 21: 15

Just like Simon Peter, I heard the LORD, asking me whether do I love him. I told him I love him, and Jesus say would you feed and tend my lamb. I reply back to him that I am not a CG leader or a pastor, how am I suppose to feed his sheeps. His reply to me was by doing my duty, I am feeding his sheeps

Even though we are not CG leaders or a precher preaching on a pulpit, Jesus is still asking the same question to each and every one of us. Do we love him and when we reply yes, we love him more than this, he is going to ask us to feed and tend to his ship. God spoke to me saying that when we are doing our job, we are . As a Usher, we feed the sheeps and tend the sheeps when we prepare the hall for services. Imagine, if we do not prepare the hall for service, where are the people going to seat to hear Pastor. When we are doing our duty, we partake of the process of feeding and tending his lamb and sheeps. Notice Jesus start by saying feeding my lambs before going on to tending my sheeps and feeding my sheeps. Sheeps are grown lamb, lambs that are matured. I believe that Jesus is implying that we have to feed lambs and sheeps, unmature and mature believers. However, by doing our duty in our respective ministry, we are feeding and tending his lambs and sheeps

Is homosexuality right or wrong
The Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?" And he answered and said to them, "Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man seperate."

When Jesus was asked whether divorce is lawful or not for just any reasons, he bring the issue of divorce all the way back to God's original intention in the beginning in the garden of Eden. Our answer to this question should also follow Jesus pattern. Is it God's original plan for a guy to have certain kind of relationship with another guy or a girl to have a certain kind of relationship with another girl. As pointed out by Jesus and in Genesis, "God created male and female, and for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man seperate" God did not create man and man, woman and woman. He created man and woman together.
God also tell man to 'be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue'. We can take this words as have many children. A guy cannot have children with another guy and similarily a woman cannot have children with another woman. It must by a guy and woman together before they can have children. This is how nature work. And nature is something God create in the first place.
Christ is suppose to redeemed us back to God, and to the beginning, the original intention that God has for us. So in the future we are ask about certain questions such as this, we can refer back to the beginning, what is God intention for this things in the first place.

Finally completed the building fund. During this period, I have to admit that it has been very hard on me. Firstly, the amount I pledged is more than I have previously pledged before. I pledged what I receive from my pay to the building fund. When I hear this amount at first, I initially had doubts about it. But I pledged in faith, believing God to be able to help me fulfilled it. Secondly, a lot of things seems to happen during this period of time. My laptop followed by my PSP break down. I have to come up with money to fix them. This cause some delay in fulfilling the building fund in the opening months. However by the grace of God, I managed to complete my building fund. In fact, the blessings I received is more than enough to cover what I pledged. The pay I receive for the last two month before completion is nearly enough to cover my building. There are also other blessings like my Red Packets increased $100 more and receive two mobile phone.

It's really been a long time since I written a post here before. The last time I checked when I have written a post is on my birthday last year. That is like almost 6 months ago.

Music is the expression of the soul. The soul is the part that our emotion is involved with. When a songwriter or a composer feel down, it can be reflected in the song that he produced. No wonder when you hear certain rap music, their song spoke of frustration. That is because their life has in most part been full of frasturations. That's why it is shown in the lyrics of their song.

Right now, I am feeling a myraid of emotions. I am feeling frustrated at certain things in life. I am feeling lost and confused. I am feeling like "Tell me what to do cause I don't really know what to do". Basically, it sort of mirror that of the song below.

I was worshipping the LORD in CG when he spoke to me this..
Who are you focusing at? What are you focusing on? Where are you focusing?
Are you focusing on your problems or are you focusing on Jesus
Just like when Peter saw Jesus walking on water, and Jesus command Peter to walk on water
we may be ask by Jesus to do something. Just like Peter, we may step out with lots of faith, but along the way, the wind and the wave may be terrifying.
But we can react differently from Peter. Peter focus more on his surrondings than on Jesus. Peter let his surrondings frighten him by focusing on them. In the end, he sink. Good thing, Jesus rescue him. Focus on your problems and you worry. Worry won't help you in any way. Focus on your problems and you sink.
However, we can focus on Jesus. Focus on Jesus and ask him for solutions to your problem. Focus on Jesus because through him all promises are yes and amen (2 cor 1:20). Focus on Jesus and you get the miracles and breakthrough you need.
It could be during this period God speak to you about the amount to sow into the building fund. And you pledge the amount in faith. But some difficulties come along. It could be God ask you to go into marketplace but certain troubles come along. Have faith by focusing on God instead of your problems

It has been a relative busy week for me. Everyday, there's seems to be some meeting I have to attend, some things that I have to do. What is worse is that my lifestyle basically have been all messed up. I am now sleeping at early morning (3am-5am). My breadfast is in the afternoon. My dinner is at night around 10pm. With school reopening, it is causing havok in my school life.

Oh Yah, I want to introduce you a upcoming movie. It is called fireproof but I don't think it will be shown in Singapore

Here are some dialogue that prove insightful.

From the same creator as the one who create "Facing the Giants". It tells of a story of a fireman, who live through the code "never live your partner behind". However, he was experiencing some problems with his marriage, that may lead to divorce "leaving his partners behind. He was given a book by his father that taught him how to rommance his wife again. In this process, he was introduce to Jesus by his father. Most of the people in this two movie are make of local volunteer of a church. Wonder when will our church be able to make a film of our own.

I believe it is going to be an awesome movie, just live facing the giants.

He is best known for his performance at the 1992 Olympics at Barcelona. He torn his hamstring in the 400m semi-final but fought on through the pain and with assitance from his father, complete a full lap of the track to the standing ovation of the crowd. His father, Jim Redmond, barge through security in order to be with his son. Derek was officially disqualify and records in the Olympics stated that he did not finish the race as he cross the finishing line with the help of his father. However, in the eyes of the crowd, he had finished and done it heroically.

We are currently in the midst of the Beijing Olympics 2008. While we celebrate the achievement of the athelete such as Michael Pheleps who broke the record of most golds in one Olympics and Usain Bolt who set new world records for 100m and 200m dashes, we also take some time and reflect on such stories above that t0uch our heart. This story is just one of the few that reflect what the Olympics aim to do. Luz long that encourage Jesse Owens in his long jump, thereby forfeiting his own gold, Kerri Strug who despite her injury to her knees vault to help her country and team win the gold, Eric Moussambani who was an athelete from a poor backworld country that have not seen a olympics size pool till the Olympics. We acknowledge their hard work, preservance and sacrifice in pursuing their dreams

By the way, I did not think Usain Bolt was purposely faunting himself. I only think he lose himself in the joy of winning the competition. Something that might happen to anyone of us.

I just receive this revelation recently. The value a person place on another person depends not on how much the other person can do for the person but on the relationship they share between them. Sound chim...?

Actually it is very simple. Take for an example, my leader have a baby boy called Josiah. Little Josiah being a baby cannot do much for his dad except bring a little of joy and lots of trouble. However, Little Josiah means more to Stephen, my cell group leader than the entire cell group even though we can do more for Stephen more than Little Josiah can. It is because Little Josiah is Stephen's son. It is because of the special relationship he shared with my cell group leader. Nothing can replace him in the eyes of my cell group leader.

My mother is an entrepreneur. She has been an entrepreneur long before I think the term " entrepreneur" has taken form. She has workers under her but no matter how talented and capable they are, they cannot take the place of us in his heart. Even though she doesn't say it, I know that she must be really happy when me and my brother go down and help her with her business. In business sense, we are not as good as these workers. But she appreciate us when we take time off to help her.

For as many are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you reeeived the spirit of adoption by whom we cried out, "Abba Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Romans 8:14-16

When we become christian, our relationship with God change. We become sons and daughters of God. Our value to God increase so much more as compared to every other living creatures, even the angels, in the world because we become God's very own child. God value us more. That is why God send Jesus to die on the cross. God value this relationship we have with Him and He want everyone to be able to enjoy this relationship with Him. I want to be a child of God

Since the begining of mankind, God has chosen to work with and through man. He empower certain man such as Moses, Noah, Joseph to do his will on Earth. And God will not change his pattern of using man to spread his goodwill. So why did God use Man instead of Angels to accomplish his will on Earth. Wouldn't it be easier for him to just say a word just like what he did during the creation for the world. Why did Jesus take the form of a man instead of a lamb to be sacrifice?

God desire for us to seek him. While he desire to give us good things, he also want us to work hard to get it.

Mt 7:7-8
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

There must be a process of seeking, asking and knocking before he will let us find him, give us and open the door for him. So are we going to ask him for breakthrough? Are we going to seek him?

We often say, like your will instead of mine be done. What is a will? It can mean a lot of things. The verse largely mean the wish or purpose to carry out. However, it can also mean a document that contain a declaration of a person wishes towards the deposition of his property. It can be leaving a country or death. On the cross, Jesus wrestle away the keys of Earth away from the devil. He then give it to us before he leave Earth to go to heaven

Mt 16:19
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The Key have been given to us. We have been given the key of heaven, the key of life and earth. The question now is what are we going to do with this key. Are we going to use it?

Who want to watch the Mummy 3?

Saw the new trailer for The Mummy 3, Return of the Dragon Emperor, on the day I watch Hellboy 2, the Golden Army. Brenden Fraser return as Rick O' Connell, the famous archaelogist that always have to battle mummies. Funny things always seems to happen to him. I was so impressed by the trailer that this is a movie that I intend to watch. It look like a good movie to watch. Sequeals have their advantages and disadvantages. They can relie on previous sequels to draw people to watch it. However, people tend to expect sequels to be better than the orginials so movie sequels have to deliver more to keep movie-goer sastisfied. It seems that The Mummy 3 will not disappoints. The trailer show Yeti and Dragon, making it more mythological b. The plot is also about the Chinese dragon emperor. This take it away from a Egypt setting to China. A refreshing change different from the previous movies. Maybe someway down the road, the sequels will be about Alex O'Connell, the son of Rick O'Connell and Evelyn. I mean since he was a young boy, he experience adventures such as the one in The Mummy Returns. He will possess his mother intelligence and his father's bravery and good fighting skills. This make it nice to watch. Whoever who want to watch this movie can find me.

Powerful and Effective Prayer

James 5:16-18
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.

James 5:16 says that the fervent prayern of a righteous man avail much. In the NIV version, it is written instead that the Prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Since both verse are talking about the same thing, there is no conflict and we can put them together. If we put them together, it become the fervent prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

In order for the prayer to be powerful and effective, the bible state 2 conditions. Firstly the prayer must be fervent. It must be passionate and consistent. Jesus illustrate the parable of the unrighteous judge and other story to illustrate the need for consistent and passionate prayer.

Secondly, the prayer must be make by a righteous man. So what does it means for the man to be righteous?

Galatians 3:6
just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

We must just as Abraham, believe God in his promise. We must have faith that God will answer our prayer. Faith is the currency of Heaven. Also, we must be forgiven of our sins. That is why it is written that we must confess our sins to each other, and pray for each other. We must believe that the blood of Jesus has cleanse us of all unrighteous. If there is any sins in our life, our prayer will not be effective and powerful.

The verse then goes on to illustrate Elijah as an example. Elijah was so righteous towards God that he slaughter 850 of Baal's prophet in one day. He was caught into Heaven, having never die on Earth. He pray for rain to come 8 times when finally rain come. This prove how fervent his prayer is. It is no wonder his prayer is powerful and effective.

My Second birthday

I really want to cry. I got a astonishing 16 birthdays in the month of July. Some of them being Samuel, Jesselyn, Yi Min, Max, Sophia, JunYong... If I were to give one birthday or accompany each and everyone of them to the movie, I will be heavily in debt. Thank God that is not the case.

Apparently, for the month of June, I got also 16 birthdays. Some of them would be Chappy, Ignatius, Kelvin Eng, Sylvia Kho, Stanley Khor and Geraldine. That be a total of 32 birthdays for 2 months. God, if you want me to bless them in their birthdays. You better make me rich soon.

Anyway, guess which one is my birthday - 7 Nov or 20 June? The truth is I consider both my birthday. The first is my actual birthday. The second is the day I was born again in Christ. So since I born again, it means every time of the year on this day, it is also my birthday. So you can choose to bless me on 2o June, I wouldn't mind. If you want to bless me throughout the year, you are more than welcome. I used to say this, don't reject blessings unless you got good reasons to reject it. Like if that blessing come from the enemies, or you know the person who want to bless you need the blessing himself. Pray for more blessings to come in the years to come but more importantly pray for good relationship with the Blessor......

Rivers of Living Water

Thanks Alvin and the leaders for giving me this chance to lead prayer meeting and share the message. This is the message that I share during the meeting. Hope you all enjoy

Jesus was going through Samaria to Galilee when he feeling tired; stop by a well to rest. His disciple went into the city to buy foodstop by a well to rest. Soon after a Samaritan woman came to the well to draw water. This woman is considered unclean even by the Samaritans. We do not what happened. All we know is that she had 5 husbands and the man she is currently living with is not legally married to her. Maybe her husbands all died after marrying her and she is considered ‘unlucky and not in the will of God’. What we know is that she does not have a good opinion of herself. She came to the well at a timing when she is sure there is no one around. She also went to the well that is outside the city, far away from the people. Jesus asks this woman for some water to drink. The Samaritan woman was shocked. A Jew was speaking to her when even her own people, the Samaritans despise her and would not speak to her. The woman went up to Jesus and asks him, “Sir, how is it that you being a Jew would speak to me as a Samaritan Women”. Jesus answered, “If you know who you are speaking to, you would have ask me for living water”. The woman seeing that Jesus have nothing to draw water from the well with ask him, “sir, you have nothing to draw water with. Are you greater than our fathers, Jacob, who give us this well?” Jesus replied, “Whoever drink from this well will thirst again but whoever drink of the living water will never thirst again.

This story is found in the bible in John 4. So where does this living water come from?

Rev 22:1
And he show me a pure rive of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of GOD and of the lamb.

Living Water come from God himself

Then what is this River of Living Water?

John 7: 37-39
On the last day, that great day of the feast Jesus stood and cried out saying, “if anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow river of living water. But this he spoke concerning the spirit, whom those believing in him would receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

The water of life is the Holy Spirit

The Bible say that the Holy Spirit is pour out on all believers freely.

Luke 11:13
If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

And as the Holy Spirit enter into your life, as the living water flow into your life, it will produce certain results

The 5 result of the River of Living Water in our life.

1. The River of Living water produces life

Gen 2:8

The water of life is called as the water of life for a reason. It produces life to the people who receives it. Christian with this water of life in them should be so alive. They should not be dull, walking to school dragging their feet. My ZL, Yah Lan, told us at the end of our activities during the June that to be alive is to be passionate. And as the rivers of living water flow out of us, we are able to bring life and passion into the people, the environment around us.

2. The River of Living Water produce cleansing

2 Kings 5:1, 10, 14

Naaman, the commander of the Syrians was struck by leprosy. Naaman have to go to the Jordan River to wash himself. As he washes himself 7 times in the river of Living Water, he was cleansed. We can see the Jordan River as a representation of the rivers of living water in Heaven. And as the rivers of living water through us, we are cleansed of all unrighteousness.

3. The River of Living Water produces Sanctification.

Mt 3:13-15

Cleansing and Sanctification are different. Cleansing is to be make clean while sanctification is to be make holy. In Mk 3:13-16, Jesus went to the Jordan to be baptized by John. Jesus understands that if he is not baptize as required, the Holy Spirit would not come upon him and he cannot minister to the people. Similarly, we need to be baptize in the Holy Spirit, in the river of living waters in order for the Holy Spirit to be able to come to us. Only after we have been baptize in the rivers of living water, in the Holy Spirit, are we able to do what God called us to do.

4. The River of Living Water produce healing

Rev 22:2

Beside the River was the tree of life that produces 12 fruits for the healing of nations. Naaman was healed of his leprosy when he washed himself in the Jordan River seven times. We are taught never to do healing until the Holy Spirit move in us to heal. And as the Rivers of Living Waters flow out of our belly, we are able to bring healing to this broken-world that we live in.

5. The River of Living Water empowered us to get wealth

Gen 2:11-12

Rivers have always been a source of wealth for people. They provide water for crops for the farmers. They provide a source of transportation for merchants for trade. One of the ways people look for gold is through a method call gold panning. They scoop up gold in a pan and gently stir it. The gold which is heavier will sink to the bottom and it is then collected. Whatever is true in the natural is true in the supernatural. The River of Living Water empowered us to get wealth in our life.

Notice that the bible mentions rivers of Living water. This means that people can have one river of Living water or 2 river of living water in their life. The bible also spoke of certain people being filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 4:31

The Holy Spirit comes upon us in degree. Just like this water bottle, we are filled with water. But our water is still water, water with no life. In order for us to have this gift of river of living water, we need to pour out our still water. The still water represents our pride, our rebellious nature, and our sins. Sins lead to death. Naaman has to pour out his pride in order for him to receive this living water for cleansing and healing. To the degree of us pouring away our still water is the degree the living water can be poured into our life. Pour away half of the still water in your life and God can only pour in half of his living water. Benny Hinn says that the power behind his ministry is his total reliance on God. To the degree we are broken before the Lord is the degree that the Holy Spirit can move in us and through us.

So in the end, does the woman in John 4 receive these gifts of Living Water? I believe she did. If you read further in John 4, she told everyone about Jesus and bought a great revival to the region. She was telling people with so much passion and life. She was cleansed from her shame and she now date to approach people to tell them about Jesus.

Hi faithful readers of my blog and my good friends ,
Thank you for your faithfulness and concerns

Haha, been sometime since I blog about something, but there is really nothing interesting for me to blog about. Actually I don't have much time to blog cause I am preparing to head towards church in an hour time. I also have a lot of things such as reading two articles about my FYP project, updating the RP4C blog, doing some errands for my mother online at the same time. I am really multi-tasking here. Haha..

If you notice, I have just change my blogskin, the reason being the previous blogskin being too complicated for me. I cannot figure out a lot of the codes. This format is easier. Once I have more free time, I will slowly add the other functions like songs, bible verse and calenders. As for why I choose this blogskin, I want something to do with christian. I found this about why do we love. I also found some other. But after considering all, I narrow it to two. One which is the current blogskin I am using, the other is about my church building fund and cultural mandate. Even though it look good, the building have just been over and we are going into a season of learning to serve, which has to do with loving others.

So why do we love, because he first love us. I mean it is selfish to have all the love that God give you and not give it to someone else to bless them.

What a friend we have in Jesus is a Christian Hymm written by Joseph M. Scriven. It might not be as famous as Amazing Grace. But the lyrics of it is just as sweet. Joseph M. Scriven wrote this hymn to confort his mother who was going through some hard times. Joseph M. Scriven was engaged to a beautiful young lady. He told the lady that if there is any problems, they will carry it to God in prayer. However, just before the day of marriage, the young lady was drowned during a boat ride. Imagine the grief he suffered. He don't know what to do so he get on his kness to pray. When his mother experience through her own tribulation, Joseph M. Scriven wrote this hymn to reach out to her as he know how she is feeling.

We can rememeber that even in our darkest time, Jesus is still there with us. He promises us that he will never leave us nor forsake us. We might fail to make good our promises but God is always faithful. What peace we often forfeit, just because we do not carry it to God in prayer. What a priveledge as Christian we have, to be able to carry everything to God in prayer. In fact, he love to listen to us as if we are his own child. Facing the giant movie

Fall sick today with Throat infection. Ahh...not only is it dis-comforting, but my whole schedule came to a standstill. Not only that, I cannot really concentrate on God during my sickness. CG, ministry, schooling, work, FYP. meeting with people, driving lesson, just to mention a few. It fell damn weird to be not doing anything at all but sleep. Maybe just like being stuck in a traffic jam, we are constantly in a rush that it is good to slow down a bit.

Actually this post should be post quite sometime ago, this part of the post I mean, except that I don't really have time for it or something else just happen to be on my mind. But, now that I got some time

Alex Kendrick was actually a baptism pastor when he read a survey about movies having more influence in teens than churches, take to direct movies. He direct this movie, with the cast all volunteers from his church. He only hired 5 professional to fill the technical positions. It was like a project for his whole church as everyone chip in one way or another. This is just one examples of the cultural mandate. Alex Kendrick starred as Coach Grant Taylor who is facing a crisis in his life. He is about to be fired from his job. He has barely enough for maintaince for his house with his current job. He and his wife are unable to have children. However, he turn to God and God turn his situation around. It is incredible what God can do for you if you turn to him. Never give up, never lose faith, never back down.

Liverpool FC board members conflict..how it will affect the performance of the players

Everything may seems well on the pitch for Liverpool. Liverpool have manage to beat Arsenal 5-3 to reach the Semi-Final of the Champion League where they will face Chelsea. They have also beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 to secure the 4th position in the English Priemer League and a spot for next year Champion League.

However, all may not be what it seems. It seems that there is trouble in the boardroom. Tom Hicks, co-chairman of Liverpool FC is in dispute with George Gillett over the sacking of Rick Parry, the Club Chief Excutive.

Though we have not seen it yet, the conflict will spilt over sooner or later to the field. Fans might think that as long as the team is performing well on the pitch and it's alright. However, it is not alright. The conflict between the two co-chairman of the club has already affected the club. Rafael Benitez now has no idea who to look to for finance to purchase new players to beef up the squad for new season. There are also rumors about Jurgen Klinsman replacing Rafael Benitez as manager. Even after Jurgen Klinsmen being appointed manager of Bayern Munich, Tom Hicks is said to be seeking advice from him in certain club matter such as recruitment. Rafael Benitez might also not be able to concentrate on his job due to having to worried about his position as manager. Even though Rafael Benitez may not have lead the team to win the primer league yet, he has lead the team to win the Champion League where the top clubs in Europe compete and the FA Cup. Give Rafael Benitez a break, I believe he has tried his very best in producing results.

Also Tom Hicks and George Gillett might look for support among the players themselves. These might produce conflicts among the different players as they support the two different chairman. This would then affect their teamwork and lead to poor performance on the field.

In order for the club to make profits, the fans must be make happy. However, the fans will not be happy if the team is not performing well. For the sake of Liverpool Football Club, the two chairman must come to a conclusion and find some way to stop this conflict. It would really be good to have one of the two chairman to back off in this conflict to stop any disasters that is heralding nearer.

Someone actually say that I blog like once in a million year. That person was probably right cause I blog like when I am free and when I feel there is something newsworthy to blog about...But you probably need to thank her cause I will try to blog more often.

Just watch Step Up 2 the streets. Ok, ok, it has been some time since I watch that film. Actually that film was a bit of a disappointment to me. Maybe because it is the high expectations that I place on the film. Because of the Building Fund, every movie that I watch must be well-worth the money I spent on it. This lead to me being selective and also having high expectations of any movies I watch during this period.

Every movies have a sort of underlying message. For both Step Up and Step Up 2 the streets, the message is about pursueing and believing in your dreams. They also convey the message of Second chances and redemption. This means that there is minor changes in the plot of the Second Step Up movies. Step Up 1 is like something of a first of a kind and so is kind of refreshing. Subsequent movies of dances in this genre always have the message about Redemption and Second Chance. This make the plot kind of repetitive for later movie. At some point of time in the movie, the main characters in the both movie (Andie and Taylor) loses friends because they do not understand what the main characters are doing and feel that they are being neglected. The differences can be found here where one (Taylor) gain back his good friends as well as make new friends while Andie loses most of his friends but gain new one.

Overall, the movie protray their message about pursueing and believing your dreams, betrayal of friends because of misunderstanding and redemption and second chances well. Readers and viewers are entitled to their own views of course.

6 steps to Abundance in your life

Luke 5:1-7 in the gospel of Luke tells of the story of the disciples, Peter, Andrew, John and James’s first encounter with Jesus. If you read it carefully with understanding, it also contains the keys to abundance living in every believer’s life. God wants each and every one of us to live in abundance. However, due to our own mismanagement of our resources, we often come out short than what we have actually.

The story of Luke 5 begins with Jesus being pressed by the multitudes at the Lake of Gennesaret. He noticed two boats and got into the one that belong to Simon. He asked Simon to put out a little from the land and begin to teach the multitudes from the boat. From these 3 verses in Luke 5, we can already find 2 of the keys to living in Abundance in our lives.

The first of these steps would be to 1) allow Jesus into your life, into your situations. In order for Jesus to change the situation around, he must be with you in the situation. If you do not let Jesus into your lives, into your situations, then there is nothing he can do.

After doing this first step, the next step would be to 2) avail yourself and what you have for the works of the kingdom of God. If Simon have not avail his boats for Jesus to preach to the multitudes, he would not have such a harvest of fishes that his boats can barely contained it. If the boy have not avail his 5 loaves and 2 fishes for feeding of the 5000, he would not have 12 basketfuls of leftovers. God is faithful. He will reward you for what you have done.

The next 2 verses Luke 5:4-5, when Jesus have finish teaching the multitudes, he said to Simon “ Put out into deep water and let down your nets for a catch”. But Simon answered,” Master we have worked hard all day and night and haven’t caught anything, but at your word, we will let down a net for a catch, give us the next 3 keys to abundance.

3) Sometimes, we will have to take risk and go into deeper water to have a catch. The further away and deeper into the water you go, the more risk there will be of getting lost or of not getting any help when troubles arise. However, we can risk trust God with our lives cause nothing is ever out of his control.

You also have 4) to work hard for the harvest and abundance to come. It is written in the bible that if you do not work, you do not expect to receive anything. However, sometimes, working hard is not enough to have abundance in your life.

You got to have 5) obey Jesus. Obeying Jesus is the key to having victory in life. Obeying Jesus and doing what you are asked to do help bring the blessings in. Simon could have choose to complaint that he has work hard day and night and caught nothing so want to go home and rest. But he chooses to let down a net, and God did not let his trust in him down.

Finally, remember to 6) share your blessings with your fellow brothers and sisters. Simon cast his nets and caught such a large number of fish that his nets began to break and he signaled to his partners in another boat to come and help him. And they came and help him and they fill both boats and their boats began to sink. Simon could have chooses to keep the fishes all for himself and not share with his partners. However, if he would have done that, his boats would have sink and he would gain nothing. The bible says that there is one who withholds more than he should and he was made poor. Do what Simon says, share your blessings with others? God will bless you more by filling both you and your partners’ boats.

Hi everyone, I'm back

Chinese New Years have always been a great time to watch a few movies, with the little extra money you have gain from your Red Packets and also when you have very little places to go during Chinese New Year for a get-together with your cousins and friends. Last year we watch Law by Law, a local movie that make fun of Singaporean who just follow the law while the year before, we watch, Fearless by Jet Lee, a movie about Huo Yuan Jia who refuse to bow to external foreign power.

This Chinese New Year, I have watch 3 movies, Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street, CJ 7 and Ah Long Pte Ltd. However, if you noticed, I watch Sweeney Todd, a musical sang in English, something diff from what I watch during Chinese New Year, that is Chinese movies.
CJ7 cannot really compare to Stephen Chow previous movies. His previous movies are really hilarious and he protray the character to the best he can. In my opionion, the movie only manage to get by because it is directed by Stephen Chow. However, the alien CJ7 really got me reminded of my dogs at home.

Sorry for no picts for Ah Long Pte Ltd. This is a local film directed by Jack Neo. Jack Neo can really direct this movie better. Jack Neo does include some Christian terms in it and it include some funny parts. Mutu is still as funny as usual. I mean imagin if there really be a revival among the J-team actors. That would be wonderful...Mutu will proably make all the ushers and security team people crazy though

Sweeney Todd by far was my favorite among the three movies spoken. Johnny Depp is an awesome actor, able to bring the character he is acting to live. Together with Tim Burton's talent in direting dark emo movies, come a masterpiece. These two pair really work together well. Also, some people say my hair look like Sweeney Todd. The modern day Sweeney Todd, haha, does anyone tell u my mother is a shareholder of a hair Salon....Scary...That is Just for fun to scare you.

And it is discovered that over 1500 youth commit suicide, 1 in 5 once considered suicide and 40% of them have self inflicted wounds. This is like lining up your friends and divided them into groups of five and among each group, there is one that has considereed suicide, two of them have self inflicted wound. And there could be a thousands of reasons why teenagers do these things from externalising pain on the outside instead of feeling pain from the inside to because they hate themselves. And these wounds might not even be visible at all. Scary statistics ah

The song "everything" is a song sang by the band, Lifehouse was feature in the first season of Smallville. Some people view it as a christian song cause they interpret the song as about faith. However, I believe that like many other songs, though their lyrics are not that controversial, is use by God to awken our conscience towards him. I believe it is the act of common grace.

It is sad but true that we once walk close to God. However, as time goes by, other piorities such as money relationship replace God. This is a very effective strategies the Devil have employed over you. If he cannot get you, he can distract. After that, people realise they are more vulnerable to the attacks of the devil. However, if you are willing to return to Jesus, Jesus is willing and able to provide the protection against the devil in your life.

I personally prefer the "Contemporary English Version" that has different people reading and role playing the different parts and role though it only come in tihe New Testament. This come useful if you are tired of reading the bible, cannot read the bible because you are illiterate or have no interested in reading the bible. Also, it is more interesting at time to study the bible in this way and sometimes you discover some truths and revelations through listening to the word in this manner.

Compared to some of the greatest people like Thomas Edison who invent the light bulb so we have no need to live in darkness or Martin Luther King who fights for the rights of his race, I have little to contribute to society. However, going back home after on particular blood donation drive, I was reminded of how fortunate I am.

Yeah, life may not be perfect right now. I still face problems after problems with balancing the many things I have in my life, but at least, I still have my family with me. I still have good friends in my life and most of all, I still get the opportunity to get up tomorrow and try again what I fail to accomplish today in my life. However, for many of the people that require an emergency blood transfusion for operations, tomorrow might not be an option they have.

I was reminded of this story that was told to me by a person I respected very much. An old man was once walking along the beach when he noticed a young
Boy bending down, picking something up and throwing it into the sea. Out of a sense of curiosity, he approached the boy. He noticed that the young boy was picking up starfishes and throwing it back into the sea, one after another. He asked the young boy,” What are you doing.” The young boy answered,” I am throwing the starfishes back into the sea so they can live again. It turn out that these starfishes are washes ashore during high tide and left to dry out and die in the sun during low tide. The Old Man then replied, “But there are so many starfishes, you cannot save them all. What differences can you make?” The young boy look at the Old Man, bend down, pick up a starfish and with all his might throw it back into the sea, saying,” For that starfish, it make a difference.

I was very touched when I hear this story. The starfish story serve to reminded all that no matter how insignificant and small we are, we can all make a difference in someone life. I decided to join the young boy and the Old Man in throwing starfish back into the sea, in making a difference in someone life. Contributing blood is one way in which I make a difference in someone life. Everyone can make a difference in someone life, it is only if we try.

"Now Faith is the substance of things hope for, the evidence of things unseen"

If we can see the road ahead, then we do not need faith. It is precisely because we cannot see what is ahead that we need the faith. I can see the cup in a box that is opened in front of me, I do not need faith to believe it. However, if I cannot see the cup because the box is closed, then it require me to have faith to believe that it is there.

In the gospel of Matthew, Jesus and his disciples were crossing into the sea. Jesus felt asleep on the way. A storm arose and his disciples panic. Jesus reprimanded them and then calm the storm. The disciples were reprimanded not because they lack the faith to command the storm to stop. They doesn't have the authority to do that. They are reprimanded that they allow fear into their lives, instead of trusting in God to bring them through. "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith". This serve to remind us the fact that faith and fear cannot co-exist together.

I have to admit that the begining of this has not been easy for me. In fact, it can be very difficult. The devils and his minion doesn't rest on New Year day or any other day from teampting, deceiving, robbing us of our future and attacking us. In fact, he will strike us when we least expected it. That is why Jesus asked us to be attentive at all time. However, I will believe by faith that I have an future and an hope, that God will fulfilled his promises to me.

Ps 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want,
He makes me to lies down beside the green pastures,
He leads me beside the still water.
He leads me in the path of the righteousness
for his name's sake

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil; for you are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me

You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Ps 23 is a familar verse to most Christians. It is a verse that I refer to when I am down or I am going through tough times. Notice that when the psalms describe the good scenario, etc...lie down beside the green pastures, lead me beside the still water. The Lord is described as a he, a third person. However, when David is going through the difficult moments like in the presence of his enemies, or going through the valley of the shadow of death, God is shifted from the third person prespective to a more intimate postition of you. David is now addressing God face to face.

So often in our life, we experience the same thing that Ps 23 talk about. When all was well. we throw God to the sidelines. However when we are in need of help, we draw near to God. God seems so much closer to us when we are in some sort of trouble. That is even though he is close to us whether we are in trouble or not.

Facing your Giants

If there is something that everyone face is that we all have problems. And sometimes these problems become too big that they become giants.
The people in the bible face giants in their days too. The spies that are sent to spies out the land in the saw the son of Anak, a race of giants. David has to face Goliath. And just like David and the children of Israel, God want you to have victories over your giants.
We can learn from David and the children of Israel on how to face our giants. When facing giants, do as David does. David shifts his focus from Goliath to God while the rest of the army of Israel concentrates on Goliath. Staring at your giants won’t help you. It would only further intimidate you. David mentions God up to 9 times as opposed to mentioning Goliath twice. Even when talking about Goliath, he does not use Goliath’s name. When we encounter giants, shift your focus to God. God will help you. God will provide you with all you need, an ally like Jonathan against Saul. After all, it is Jesus who has overcome the world, not us.
David takes 5 stones to face Goliath. We must also take these 5 stones into the battle with our own Giants. These 5 stones can be represented by our fingers.

1. Stone of past victories – Saul told David that he cannot face Goliath cause he is but a youth, and Goliath is a warrior from his youth. David instead recounts his victories over the lion and the bear. He remembers how God has delivered him from them and delivers them into his hands. Faith arose within him that God will deliver Goliath into his hands. On the other hand, the children of Israel did not remember how God delivered them from the pharaoh in Egypt. The result was one whole generation of Israelites having to die in the deserts.
Make a list of past victories that God have given to you. Believe that if God has given you victories in these past situations, he will give us victory in the current situations. After all, he’s the same, yesterday, today and forevermore.

2. Stone of prayer – David descended into a valley, going down on his knees to find the stones before comforting Goliath. He finds strength when going down on his knees and prays. The children of Israel did not pray before going into the Promised Land. When we are facing giants, we should turn to God. After all, we are facing giants that are stronger than we are. We cannot conquer them without strength from God

3. Stone of priority – David make protecting and honoring the name of God his first priority. His reply to Goliath taunting was who is this uncircumcised philistine that dare defied the army of the living God. In battles, there always a high chance that you get killed. David, however, was not worried about his safety but care about God’s name. In fact, David wore no armor to his battle with Goliath. No wonder God say David has a heart after God.
We are ambassador of Christ, Representation of God himself. When people look at us, they are looking as if they are looking at God. That is why we need to make our priority to honor God.

4. Stone of passion – David ran towards Goliath, not away from Goliath. He has a passion to defend God’s holy name. Similarly, Caleb has a similar passion to take the Promised Land. Caleb was still fighting, even at an old age. We need to have a similar passion to conquer our giants.

And the last point would be we need the

5. Stone of perseverance – David did not assume that just one stone is enough to take down Goliath. He was prepared that if one stone was not enough, he will use the other stones. He was prepared that if the Philistine army decided to help out Goliath, he can use these stones. Goliath descended from the giants whom the forefathers of Israel fought against when they come up to possess the Promised Land. These giants were set against the Israelites. They reappear time and time again. We can assume that our giants would reappear at every opportunity he can. We need the stone of perseverance to outlast our giants

I was just wondering about this building fund when I remember what Ps Ulf Elkmen preach about giving in the building fund video. I look up the verse and here it is.

Pls take note "in the same year a hundredfold". I am believing that my breakthrough would be coming within the building fund period.

I realise that it is important to have promises in my life to safeguard my heart during this period where God will test us, the devil will tempt us and we are inclined to give up. We must believe in these promise that God will do as he say.

This blog is set up by my Cg leader for his first unborn child. Have some fun reading the blog. Everything is so exciting, for me because the father of the child is my current CG leader, the mother of the child is my ex-Cg leader, so the family are very close to me, but also reading about the progress of baby is so fascinating. Congrat to them again for having their first baby.

It got me thinking how wonderful God is. God actually plan every details of a child before he was born, from what he will do in the future to even the no. of hairs a person have on his head. God is wonderful indeed. It is hard to imagin that the origin of every person here on earth are mud, or even a egg and a sperm cell. We are all so complicated and yet wonderfully made. And God did not just make the physical body, he also make our personality, our character, everything that make us who we are now. He plan everything, including our future, even before we are born. What a caring father God is. The birth of a new life is always so exciting and bring new hope to mankind. Wonder what will I feel when me and my future wife have our first child.

The prediction of the birth of the child by the doctor would be next year May, at the end of the building fund. Concidentally, the birth of my zone leader 2nd child, YL will be around May too. Haha, must rack my brain to think of a gift to give BabyPok already. God bless these child and every other baby in our church. I believed God has a great plan for them and they will achieve great things for him, their creator, just as their parents are doing the same for God.

Praising God

Now Jericho was securely shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out, and none came in......So it was, when Joshua had spoken to the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the LORD advanced and blew the trumpets, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them. The armed men went before the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard came after the ark, while the priests continued blowing the trumpets...... So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. Joshua 6:1-20

Joshua 6 tell us the story of the fall of Jericho. The people of Jericho shut themselves in the city. This become a problem to the Israelite as not only are the people of Jericho strong, the walls of their city are high and strong too. But God has told Joshua that he will give Jericho over to the Israelites. How did God do it then??

God told Joshua to have armed men went before the priest. Armed men represent we, christian. We are often describe as an army for God, soilders of Christ. After them came the priest bearing 7 ram horns or trumpet. These are instrument use in praising God in the olden days of Israel. It represnet praise. And after them come the ark of convenant of God. This represent the prensence and power of God.

Notice the order. First come the armed men, then the priest carrying the trumpets and then the ark of the convenant of God. So it is in real life. We have to be present to be able to give praises and worship God. God doesn't work alone. He's always work through people. After praise and thanksgiving come the presence of God where the power of God is shown.

This power, as evident in the above passage, is able to break down wall. Be it to bring revival to the schools, or if you are in need of breakthrough, praises and thanksgiving are powerful weapon used by God. It work on the principles that when God is lifted up, who can be higher than him. He will then moved his power to help us. So the next time you need a breakthrough, try praising and glorifying him. Remember in breakthrough, something must break first (the wall) before you can go through it (the city).

The Hills have eyes

Just reach home only. It seems that everyday, I am so busy. I hardly be able to reach home before 10.oopm.

My mother was watching this movie call The Hills have Eyes. For those who have mever watch this movie before, allow me to explain. It begins with the USA testing Nuclear bomb in the Nevada or Mexico Deserts. The settlers in these test site are asked to evacuate. However, one group of them refuse and hide out in the mines located in these hills.

They weren't killed in the blast but the radiation left from the test mutate them. After some years later, a group of scientist visiting the site are killed. Then after a few more year, the Carter family was passing by these sites when they misleded and then their vehicles tires are puunctured. They tried to find help but are slowly murdered by these people from the hills.

In the end, the surviors from the Carter family fight back and manage to kill the leader of the people of the hill. They rescue the family from the cannibals. My theories of why the mutants consumes human flesh is that they blame normal human for their deformities and because they cannot be accepted into normal human society again, they habour hatred against us.

What was most memoriable in the movie is about this little girl from the tribe from the hills. She rescue the Carter family's baby. It is remarkable that despite growing up in such an enviroment, how she maintain her kindness. Then it dawned upon me that it is because she choose to think differently that make her behave differently, not on the culture she grow up in. As society continue to plunge deeper into darkness and more evil, we, as christian, need to think differently from the rest of the world, instead of following after it. So pls watch out of your thought life.

I guess this is what Ps. Kong talk about common grace. Something that God use to convey his message to his people. If we are not alert, we might miss it.

Just this week

It’s been a hell of a week. School reopens and so many things have happened already,
Some of them being good and some of them being bad. I suppose this is the way life is. We win some of our life battle and lose yet some of others life battle. Things don’t always work out the way I want things to work out.
First day of school and I heard someone talking about me in the lift. And they weren’t exactly saying nice things. Never mind, forgive and forget.
Now taking 5 modules, Consumer Psychology, Sales Management, Financial planning, Service Quality and Professional Etiquette and Events Logistic. It looks like I am going to get even busier.
My relatives from China have returned home just to china this morning. My parents intend to threat them to dinner last Friday. This means that I will miss CG. For my unsaved parents, they never really realize how important CG and service is to me. They just think is another meeting with friends which you can do on another day. But at the end of the day, another uncle is treating dinner and not my family so I get to go to CG after all, which is good. Anyway, I don’t really know what to say to them cause the age gap is so big. That is pretty much my week. Hope those of you reading this blog have a good week instead.

What’s been happening to me?

Firstly of all, I want to thank God for his miraculous healing. The last time I had a sore throat; it takes weeks for it to heal. I caught it from my brother and he was in bed with this illness for 2 weeks. I make a recovery in just 3 days. Amazing right?

Also, God has blessed me in terms of material possession. My mother has just come back from a 4 days trip to Thailand, Bangkok. My brother and I each got a jacket from my brother. It turns out that the coat is too small for him so I got two jackets now. I also got what I asked, a sling bag because most of my old bags are broke, and three shirts.

One thing I learn from all this is God is still watching out and taking care of you, even when things are going bad around us. I hit a rough patch with my family recently that becomes so bad that I did not return home for a few days. I just went over to my friends’ houses and stay overnight. I even take an opportunity when my old friends in the CCA are having a camp for the younger boys t0 stay at the camp. But thankfully, God came for me.

I ask him why he throws me into a pit so dark and deep that I cannot get out on my own. His reply was so that I will work together with him to get out of that pit. It is not just my family, but a numbers of problems including finance and a history that make me who I used to be. What I cannot change, I leave it to God. What I can change, I try my best to have that things changed.
God just so amazing and wonderful and good too.

I know I haven't been writing in this blog for sometimes. As you can see, sometime this blog contain very religious staff, so I hope that it would not turn off people.
Just got into my room and get my brother to get off the com. Sometimes he can be so rude. He lost his temper once more. I have to admit my family are not really good in controlling our emotion. That is why I have to pray everynight that I be able to keep my emotion in check. He also refuse to accept people's advice. Acting so selfish and only listening to his own opinion. Everyone must do as he want them to. He really got to take a look at his altitude. Just because we are his family member, does not mean he can treat us like this, shouting at us. Absoultely no respect..but no matter what faults he has, we still love him. Hope he realise it someday. No matter how bad a person is, his family will always forgive him if he is willing to change. Yeah, we may send him to the boys hostel but that is so he can change for the better.
It's not been a going very well for me. I have been been going though attacks by the evil one, whether in my studies or my walk with God. Sometimes, I return home just feeling so tired as in I'm been in a whole day of battle. I've been wondering why I end up serving so much and get "shit" from it. But Stephen enlightened me. It also got me to understand how hard it is for the leaders. This parts is necessary for the growth. In chinese we have a saying, never been though a experience, never grow in wisdom. All things work out best in the end. Nevermind...

Spiderman 3

Finally Spiderman 3 is out. The third installment feature 3 villains, Venom, Green Goblin (Harry Osborn) and Sandman. The third movie also shows Gwen Stacy and Dr Curt Conners. The movie remains somewhat faithful to the original comic as the origin of power remain the same.

For spidey’s fan, Gwen Stacy is a legend. Gwen Stacy is actually Peter Parker aka Spiderman first true love. But things were not meant to last between them as Gwen was murder brutally by the Green Goblin. This causes Spidey to constantly fear for the safety of his love one. Don’t worry yet. We will not see her dead in this movie. In fact Spiderman save her.

Dr Curt Conners is the lizard. A genetic experiment that he performs on himself that turn him into a reptile. In this movie, he is not yet the lizard.

In the last installment, Harry Osborn realizes that his best friend, Peter is Spiderman. He has wanted revenge on Spiderman for believing that Spiderman has killed his father, the original Green Goblin. He breathes in the chemical formulae that cause all the changes to his father, turning himself to the next Green Goblin…

Venom is Eddie Brock. Eddie Brock hate Spiderman but see himself as a champion of innocence in the comic. His powers include switching off Spiderman Spider sense as well as Super-super strength and web. But just as Spiderman has a weakness, the people he cares about, Venom also has one. Venom cannot stand loud noises.

Include this movie into your list of must watch for 2007 together with Pirates of the Caribbean, at world end, coming out in late May as well as the F4, rise of the Silver Surfer, from the same marvel publisher.

Let me suggest for the next movie to include the clone saga as well as a love triangle between Gwen and MJ.

Fear

When Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart trembled greatly. And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD did not answer him, either by dreams or by Urim or by the prophets. Then Saul said to his servants, “Find me a woman who is a medium, that I may go to her and inquire of her.” And his servants said to him, “In fact, there is a woman who is a medium at En Dor.” So Saul disguised himself and put on other clothes, and he went, and two men with him; and they came to the women by night. And he said, “Please conduct a séance for me, and bring up for me the one I shall name to you.” Then the woman said to him, “Look, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off the mediums and the spiritists from the land. Why then do you lay a snare for my life,
to cause me to die?” 1 Samuel 28: 5-9

Let’s look at fear from this few verses,

Fear cause people to lose their rational thinking, their reasoning. Fear cause people to panic. When people panic, they lose all sense of direction, judgment and reasoning. Their focus would be on how bad the problem is instead of thinking of how to solve it. Saul was afraid. He has fear. He panics, so instead of using the proper methods of seeking God, he turned to the mediums.
Fear causes us to turn back on our words. Saul seeks a medium though he has outlawed it. Saul turns his back away from his own words. Ask yourself, how many times have you say you will give this amount but hold it back when you are afraid of what are you going to eat? In some cases, fear hinders our walk with God when we did not obey the word of God because of our fears. In Matt 8:26, the disciples could have calmed the storm but did not due to them panicking. Fear causes Saul not to keep his words and disobey God by seeking the Mediums (Lev 19:39).

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Tim 1:7

God did not give us fear. He does not want us to panic but to have a sound mind. The Apostles in Acts were able to carry out their purposes because they only ‘fear the one who can destroy both soul and body’. They did not allow fear to hinder their walk with God. Neither did Daniel and his three friends allow fear to hinder their walk with God.
God respond to faith instead of fear, in the Apostles and Daniel and his three friends. My brothers and sisters in Christ do not let fear take root in your life, other than the fear of God. Do not let fear destroy your life in christ

In Summary
1. Fear is able to cause us to lose all source of rational thinking
2. Fear can cause us to turn back on our words and hinder our walk with God.
3. God did not want us to have fear in our life, except for the fear of God.
4. God respond to faith, not fear.

And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the god of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15

These are part of a dialogue that Joshua spoke to the children of Israel before he died after they conquear the promised land. The river in the passage refer to the Jordon River, but if we to take it into context of our christian life, it means the point when we give our life to Jesus. 'The gods which your fathers serve that were on the other side of the River' refer to our past lifestyle of defeats and sins before we come to know Jesus. 'The god of the Amorites' refer to the pleasure of the world. In the passage above, Joshua allow the Israelites to choose who they serve. In fact, Joshua warn them about the condition need to serve the Lord. Similarly, God give us a choice on whom we will serve and worship. We must be like Joshua, 'we will serve the LORD'.

Hp charger

This is an awesome revelation I receive from the LORD. It happens when my brother borrow my HP charger without informing me. My brother and I use the same brand of phone so we can use each other charger. My handphone was running out of battery. Then the LORD spoke to my heart the following.

A christian who does not enter into the presence of God is like a handphone that is without a charger. A handphone need to be charge almost nearly every day cause no matter how many functions it have, it will run out of battery in the end. In fact the more we use the phone, the faster the phone run out of battery. As christian, we need to go everyday to the prensence of God to recharge ourselves. That is especially so if you are serving God in a ministry, as God is using you alot.

If we do not go to God to recharge and refresh ourselves, we would find ourselves without any strength to continue the fight agaist the kingdom of darkness. We find ourselves not being able to last long in any fight agaist tempetation. That is why it is important for christian to have a daily quiet time and prayers.

Filter

'Filter', this word flash across in my brain during prayer meeting. It come up when I was thinking why some people left the CG. Then I was reminded of a farmer seperating the grains from the stalk after harvesting. This work somewhat like a filter.

A filter seperate and clean the useful from the not so useful. God desire everyone of us to be useful. But not everyone can be fit in the Cg the same way. Of course, we hoped that everyone can fit in, but reality checked, this is not possible as we are not perfect people.

There are many parables use by JESUS about filtering. Take the parables of the dragnet as a example. At the end of the day of the fisherman's work, he seat down to seperate the good fishes from the bad fishes. The bad fishes are thrown into the furnance and all that remain is the good fishes that are usable.

Only those that are usable will be left behind. I think that is God's way in CG or any other christian organisation, taking out the undesirable from those that he intends to use.

wisdom and understanding

Wisdom, understanding and knowledge are required for leadership.

If you want to be a leader in the chemical industry, then you must know how the chemical industry work and how the different chemical work. None of the political leader of Singapore are not university educated.

When Solomon first get to be king, he asked for wisdom. A leader need to be wise to avoid leading people to basic pitholes of life like smoking.

Also a leader need to haavbe understanding. He need to understand the needs of the people he is serving. He need to understand their strength and weakness to use their potential.

These principles are also shown in the bible.

Choose wise, understanding and knowledgeable men from among your tribes, and I will make them head over you.

Wisdom, knowledge and understanding all come from God. Job 27 paints a picture where the places underground full of riches is not touched by animals but access by men. Similarly there is a place in heaven where wisdom is found but not accessible to both humans and animals. Also, it is written in the bible, the fear od the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, and to depart from evil is understanding.

Praying for the nation

And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the LORD for it; for in its peace you will have peace. Jeremiah 29:7

The verse is part of a letter that is written by Jeremiah, the prophet, to the captives that are being carried away by Nebuchadnezzar to Babylon. It tells the people that are being carried away to Babylon to build houses and plant gardens. To make a living in Babylon to continue to bear children so that they can continues as a people to live on. Lastly, the Jews are asked to pray for the peace for Babylon, the city that they are capture to, so that they may have peace.

If the Jews were ask to pray for a country that they are not born in, so what’s more to say to the Christian living in Singapore? We are to pray for our nation, Singapore. As Singapore is having peace, the church can expand and grow. As Singapore prospers, the people will then prosper, leading to the church to prosper. We need to pray for the peace and the prosperity of Singapore, our nation

Why the name watchmen?

At first, I do not understand what the verse is talking to me. I feel that God has taken me from a place of spoon-feeding, where he provide me with all the answers of my questions, to a level where I must meditate and search him out for the answer.
A watchman is one who is given to watches out for any incoming danger and warns others of it. They can be known by other name…Lookout, sentry and many others. Their job is an important one full of responsibility as they hold the life of others in their hands. Because they warn others, the people can then be prepared to meet any incoming threats or stirred a course to avoid it. Modern technology like camera and radar have replace and make the work of a watchman easier.
In the Old Testament, Ezekiel is given the job of a spiritual watchman. He is to warn the people of Israel of the coming of disaster. You can see it is to be taken very serious.
The job of being a spiritual watchman continues on to the New Testament. Jesus says in Matt 26: 38, “My soul is extremely sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with me“. He repeated again when he found them sleeping, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mt 26:40-41) This continues after Jesus died and ascended to the heaven. This is continuing in 1 Peter 4:7 by Peter.

But the end of all things is at hand, be serious and watchful in your prayer. 1 Peter 4:7

The duty of a Christian is also to pray and be watchful for the end-time event and the Day of Judgment, and warn others of these events. As what Ps Tan says once, “I don’t want to go to heaven and see my family looking at me and say,” Why didn’t you tell me something like this is happening?”.

One of the needs of the human soul is love. Everyone is looking for love. The attempts of many teenagers searching for boy/girlfriends are an attempt to search for true love and longings. However, because of misconception by the media and inexperience, they often failed. They generally replace sex with love.

I believed this is a case where love has grown cold due to lawlessness and selfishness. People are ignoring the law or there is simply not enough law in place in certain countries, the developing countries.

We choose to love, but we are also commanded to love. The two greatest commandments are about love. The new commandment that Jesus give state that we should love each other as it will show we are his disciple. GOD is love. There is even a whole chapter in 2 Cor 13 about love.

God has shown his love (John 3:26). However, the owrld do not kowof it. The church has a special obligation to bring about this love of Christ into the present world, into the heart of man, to show them the love of Christ. This must be done so especially in the last days. I like what Ps Kong says, people do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.

It is only right for the son to serve his father, not unhappily but willing. It is only right for a servent to serve his king and Lord.

We have been free from the oppression of the devil to serve GOD. What better way to serve the LORD that to serve the church, the body of Christ. Remember Jesus says that in as much as you do it to one of the least of these of my brethren, you do it to me (Mt 25:45). Also, I find joy in able to serve the church.
Another reason is I want to grow. I do not want to remain the same after a few years in church. As I water somebody’s live, my life and my spiritual walk in GOD will be watered too.
Though the result will not be so fast, I believed that as long as I do not grow weary in doing good, in due season, I will reap what I sow.
There is no difference between this ministry and that ministry. It is all serving the LORD Jesus. They are all equally important. Whatever ministry we choose to go into, if we do not do it with love, it will not help us (1 Cor 13). This is very important to me as I join the ministry to learn new things and to grow. If it doesn’t help me to grow in Christ, it defeated the purpose of me serving. I will serve with love and as best as I can. I believe that serving with love included trying your best in it.
